Why the edit sequence file functionality is disabled during execution?

I think that developers should be able to edit the sequence file in sequence editor whilst the file is executing.

I can edit the sequence file while executing!!!

I just go over to my *other* computer, check the file out of revision control, make edits, and save/commit back to revision control.

As far as edits/changes during execution within the same TS engine -- NO, NO, NO, NO.

I don't want it to even be an option.  That's just asking for trouble in so many ways.

I'm curious to know the need behind your request. I've heard this request a few times because setup can take some time to initialize a test station, making it a pain to iterate on a settings to test them (e.g. 10 seconds setup, stop, change setting, repeat).

Is that basically the same need you have? Would providing a way to keep some variables alive at edit time, so they don't need to be reinitialized every execution (or for interactive executions), solve this problem?
