Hide skipped stuff

Status: Declined

I agree with the other comments here, so I'm declining this idea. I think this feature has potential to cause more harm than benefit. I'll mention the results filtering expression as an option to remove skipped steps from the report.

Hi,

Test tand is very useful to me and always feel thanks. Nevertheless sometimes I feel that how about hide skipped steps, sequence and something like that. If there is a function of "Hide skipped step or Hide skipped all", I will obviously use them every 50 times. 🙂

How do you think about this suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

sorry, but I really do NOT like this idea.  hiding skipped stuff just makes important things hidden.  With newer versions of TestStand the skipped steps are by default greyed out which I think is a good compromise.

Sorry - IMHO that's no good idea.

If skipped stuff is hidden from your sight then you don't feel any urge whatsoever to clean out that messy bit of code.

Just one reason to do your housekeeping: As skipped steps partly execute (they first find out that they are skipped, then leave a entry in your report) they also eat up CPU time - not a lot but a bit.

If you throw your meal remains behind the sofa then you'll wonder about where the strong smell comes from. If they stay on the table then you'll see the fur.
