nLIGHT is seeking a LabVIEW Test Station Automation Engineer to join our IT team located at our headquarters in Vancouver, Washington.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and managing LabVIEW software applications used in the manufacture of high-power lasers as well as solving day-to-day problems to support nLight's engineering and manufacturing teams. This is a growth opportunity within the CIM group and is an ideal fit for a team-oriented, self-directed person with ambition and drive.

Responsibilities

Create and manage LabVIEW software applications that directly interface with and control equipment used in the manufacture of high-power lasers.

  • Establish effective communication with other departments to ensure that requirements are understood and that projects are completed in a timely and effective manner
  • Thoroughly document software design, execution, and end-user instructions
  • Follow software design standards including abstraction, design patterns, and change control
  • Support nLIGHT’s manufacturing team, including some after-hours support.

This position will report to the CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) manager and should be able to operate under minimal supervision and make independent decisions and judgments.

Requirements

  • 6+ years programming LabVIEW
  • 2+ years LabVIEW OOP
  • Team player
  • BS in Software, Science, or Engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 3+ years developing software for equipment automation
  • 3+ years supporting a manufacturing line
  • 3+ years designing and implementing manufacturing test stations
  • SQL/database skills

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years programming LabVIEW 
  • Experience with laser testing
  • 8+ years developing software for equipment automation
  • 8+ years supporting a manufacturing line
  • Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA)

nLIGHT is subject to US Export Control regulations. To qualify for this position, a Foreign Person (that is, not a US Citizen or legal Permanent Resident) must be eligible for a deemed export license under the US Department of Commerce and/or the US Department of State.
