"RT" Data Processing Offline?

Hello!

I have been working with a NI 8145RT system with Labview 2010. I was curious to know if it was possible to acquire and analyze data directly from the host computer (a desktop computer is connected via a crossover cable), rather than from a GPIB. For example, can I create some kind of virtual instrument that "generates" data? I use the upsidown commas because I already know exactly what data this instrument will create.

In other words, is there some way to test the performance of the FPGA using data already present on the computer? ie: offline data analysis

Maybe this is a crazy question? Maybe this is a really obvious one? Perhaps I have not been using the correct keywords?

If this is possible, could you please direct me to the appropriate thread or snippets of code?

Thanks A Lot!

You mean to say that instead of using an RT target system you want to use a Host computer and gather the data from it. Yes you can do it but FPGA you cannot simulate (as far I know).

Hello, and thank you for your response.

Well, I am already able to program something like this in labview itself - but i would really like to transfer my code into an FPGA format so that in the future, I COULD use it as a RT target.

However, I don't have unlimited access to the system that I want to measure so I wanted to have the system already designed so that I could just "plug it in" and go. (even though that is rarely the case, ha) The waveform I am working with is very specific, and testing of the system with a sine wave or even a summation of them would simply not do.

Anyone else see any solutions, or perhaps a work around?
