Re-install Window XP SP3 on PXI

I have a PXI-1042 with a PXi-7833R card in it.  The internet has stopped working on it.  The IT looked at it, and they said that not only does the internet not work, they were unable to start/stop multiple window services.  Thus, IT would like to re-image the PXI with a fresh copy of window XP.  Can you help me with my following concerning?

IT is going to re-image the PXI like a regular PC.  Is this the best way to do this?  Is there anything that they need to be awared of?

8196, it seems like I have the CD for it, but it doesn't have serial number.  What does that work?

There isn't anything special you need to do to reimage your controller.  Make sure you're using the disks we provide. Hope this helps!

What if i have the disc, but I don't have the serial number anymore?
