sbRIO-9687 Universal Semikron Interface Board for NI General Purpose Inverter Controller (GPIC)
The sbRIO-9687 is a universal interface board for the NI sbRIO General Purpose Inverter Controller (GPIC) that provides direct cable connectivity to Semikron power electronics stacks ranging from 50 kW to 3.2 MW. Now engineers developing power conversion equipment for grid tied inverters, battery energy storage, power electronics test systems, and electric motor drive applications can reduce development time significantly by avoiding the need to design a custom interface PCB.

Hi ..
I just wanted to ask about the number of inverters that can be controlled through one of this device.

The number of inverters you can control depends on which output connector type you are using.
The 9687 has 7 connectors of Semikron SKiiP3 GB type. These are typically half-bridge type converters, with two IGBT/SiCs/FETs per half-bridge, which are used to control one phase of a multiple phase converter. If we are talking about controlling three phase inverters, that means 3 half-bridges per inverter. So you can control 2 three phase inverters and have one Semikron SKiiP3 GB type connector left over. This is commonly used for brake choppers or the like.
The 9687 has 2 SKiiP3 GD connectors. These are typically three phase type converters (also known as 6-packs), which have three half-bridges that are controlled from a single connector.
Summary of Semikron connector types on the 9687: Semikron SKiiP3 GB (7), SKiiP3 GD (2), SKiiP4 (4), Semikube GB (6), Semikube GD (2)
Now... in addition to that you have a breakout board connector on the 9687 that exposes 32 raw FPGA I/O lines which are 3.3 V logic. With these you could theoretically control an additional 32 transistors. However, if you want the same type of gate driver command signal I/O like the other GPIC outputs, then you would need to put those driver chips on your daughter board. Reply if you want more information on that. I can share recommended chipsets, series resistors, etc.
