Air heating system with labview control

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi there.

I am a grad student majoring in biological sciences, and writing here to ask for some help in my project.

What we are aiming in this project is as followed,

1. Rising the air temperature of closed space up to 45 celsius degree

2. Maintaining the high temperature while doing some experiment in the closed space

Some experimental instruments are installed in the closed space, and, outside the space, we use our labview-coded program for operating those instruments.

With this current project, we want to add thermal controlling system in our experiment with the aid of labview programming.

Things that we are planning is as followed,

1. We will purchase the two products of NI for measuring and controlling air temperature in the closed space during experiment:

cDAQ chassis - cDAQ-9171 and c module - NI-9211 (thermocouple)

2. For heating the inside space, we want to use air-blowing heater. So, we want to inject hot air in the space to raise up the temperature.

With PID control function of Labview, we want to maintain the air temperature (PV) in the closed space at our setpoint (SP).

However, there are three concerns that I'd like to ask you answers before starting the above project.

1. Are cDAQ-9171 and NI-9211 compatible for each other?

2. If so, Can I use cDAQ-9171 and NI-9211 for the PID function in Labview?

3. Is there any air-blowing heater that I can use with on/off control (via PID) of Labview? The volume of the closed space is 75x75x85(cm). Even though i searched any air heater that can be used in our project, I failed to find products fitted in my project.

Thank you for reading my naive concerns.

If you have any ideas and share them for me, it will be very grateful.

1. Are cDAQ-9171 and NI-9211 compatible for each other?

Yes, they are compatible, I recommend considering the T1100 bundle as well

2. If so, Can I use cDAQ-9171 and NI-9211 for the PID function in Labview?

Yes, you can use 9211 to collect temperature data in LabVIEW to implement PID control.

3. Is there any air-blowing heater that I can use with on/off control (via PID) of Labview? The volume of the closed space is 75x75x85(cm). Even though i searched any air heater that can be used in our project, I failed to find products fitted in my project.

Since, you're in academic, I would even recommend getting a force fan heater like this and get a USB controlled relay to switch it ON/OFF.
