Can the sbRIO or NI SOM be setup as an EtherCAT slave?

I was wondering about this because I can see some applications for it in my line of work. Is there a way or are the only compatible chassis the cRIO 9144 and 9145?

Hi MarkCG,

At this time, only the 9144 and 45 can be configured as EtherCAT slaves.

If you would like, you could post on the NI Idea Exchange. NI R&D takes theses suggestions seriously, and uses them to generate idea for new releases and updates to our current product line.

Best of luck on your project!

We just released a Ethercat C-series slave module that could be used with sbrio I guess.

Here ist the driver download link to get Examples Specs and manual.

The third party module looks pretty interesting, that's great. How would you use it with sbRIO though?

The cRIO_ECAT_S module is available as the full module and not as a board-only offering, which is what you'd need to work with an sbRIO via the RIO Mezzanine Card (RMC). If you take off the covering of the module to make it fit, that would void a few things, notably certifications and warranty.
