Hello family,
I'm Thuan Hoa, a new member.
I'm a last year student from Vietnam, and doing graduating project that building a good controller for TCR-SVC (thyristor controlled reactor) and Statcom.
I see CompactRIO controller has lots of application, but I cannot find any info related to TCR, SVC or Statcom application on National Instrument website.
At once, I has found a thesis and a paper that confirm that RIO controller is a good selection for SVC. I attached these docs herewith.
Could any body please tell me more about this issue?
Thank you so much.

Dear,
Is there anyone interested in this topic?

THoa,
The cRIO platform is used across a very wide range of applications. Thus, you may not be able to find documentation specific to issues on one particular application. In researching your question, I did not find any internal documents on these specific areas. I have, however, included links to information on what the cRIO platform is, how is used, and some of its applications. This may help you determine whether or not it is appropriate for your own application. May I also recommend contacting your local NI branch office. They may also be able to assist you.

Dear,
Thank you for your support.
According to your links, I understand that CompactRIO controller has lots of application, but I still cannot be sure that it can be used for SVC-TCR or Statcom areas or not.
I found a thesis that the author confirm CompactRIO controller is a good choice for TCR (Thyristor controlled reactor) of SVC.
This thesis is attached by this link: http://www.mediafire.com/?et5885ovf11zwk2
Could you please kindly help me check it?
And it's also good for me if can be introduced to your partner in my local.
Awaiting for your feedback.
Thanks.

THoa,
Can you please give me some more information on your application? I have no knowledge of TCR-SVC or Statcoom. I tried to search for information online, but was not quite sure what I was looking for. Also, for security reasons, can you please upload the file you'd like me to review onto our FTP site? (Please rename the file TCR_SVC Doc_THoa) The instructions for uploading are listed below:
Upload files to ftp://ftp.ni.com/incoming
- Open a Windows Explorer window and navigate to the site
- If you are using Internet Explorer, click "Page" then "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer" to be able to upload
- If you are using Mozilla Firefox, you need the IE tab add-on to be able to upload files to the server.

Dear,
Thank you so much.
I have upload the file "TCR_SVC Doc_THoa" to your folder. Please kindly check it.
The TCR means Thyristor controlled reactor, an important part in a SVC system.
And to control the Thyristor here, we must have a good controller.
The author of the paper I uploaded mentioned a case that Thyristor of TCR was controlled by CompactRIO controller and confirm it worked well.
Unfortunately, we cannot contact this author.
To have reliable reference, we need a confirm from National Instrument (manufacture of CompactRIO controller) for TCR-SVC and Statcom application.
I hope to receive your support.
Thank you so much.

I have received the file and will look into it.

I have looked through the document provided. While the cRIO is not designed for one specific application, the fact that another customer was able to successfully use this platform for his application is encouraging for use in own. Because we sell various chassis and controllers (with different capabilities) I recommend that you compare the system constraints between the example application and yours. You should then make sure that you modify your hardware to fit your application. The team at your branch office should be able to give you some guidance in selecting a chassis, controller, I/O modules, and software if you give them your requirements. (for example channel count, number of cRIO modules needed, FPGA specs, etc.)
Good Luck,

Dear,
Thank you so much for your kindly support.
I'll try my best to study more about applying CompactRIO controller to SVC or Statcom.
If you have any more advices, it will be great for me.
Again, thank you.
Best regards,
