Hello,
I'm working with a Hokuyo UTM-30LX-EW LIDAR and a single board RIO 9642. I have gotten the LIDAR to run on my computer through Labview but I need it to run off the sbRIO instead. However, I can't figure out how to set it up. To run the LIDAR off my computer, I added the resource for it in MAX. However, when I try to create the resource for the LIDAR on the RIO, it tells me that the RIO doesn't support the creation of a TCP/IP device. I tried to get around this by initializing the LIDAR on my computer then running the VISA resource name over to the RIO, but that doesn't work. The LIDAR has an initialize mode for cRIO USB, but this isn't a USB device. The sbRIO is running NI-VISA 5.1.
Does anyone know what I need to do/have links to projects and walkthroughs I can use as a guide?
Thanks!

Hi SpaceyJo,
Can you provide some screenshots of the LIDAR VISA resource error? In addition, have you tried to re-installing the VISA driver to match the VISA version you were running on your computer? Thanks!

Attached is the screen shot of the error I get when I try to create a resource.
The RIO and the host computer are both running the same version of VISA.

Hello,
I have your same devices: laser scann Hokuyo UTM-30LX-EW and sbRIO9626, I'm starting now and I find it difficult to make it all work out of my pc.
Do you have a labview code as an example?
Also do you think you can save the output data from the sensor into a usb pen connected to a USB port on the sbRIO9626?
thank you very much

Hi iokkkk,
The forum below discusses controlling devices connected via USB to an sbRIO and links to some helpful articles:
You can use external USB drives to store data from your sbRIO. More information about how to do this is available in the article below:
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/BBCAD1AB08F1B6BB8625741F0082C2AF?OpenDocument
The driver for your device can be found here:
http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=20324
Drivers often come with example code. If this driver has example code, it can be found by going to Help >> Find Examples…>>Hardware Input and Output >> Instrument Drivers.

Hello syahirahmuda
Are you asking for Understanding LED Indications? Page 21. I got that document by going to specifications here.
Remember you should create a new post if your question is new.
