NI-9467 GPS self-survey issues

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi everyone.

We are using a cRIO-9064 along with a NI-9467 for timestamp synchronization. The problem that we are facing is that we have been unable to get the GPS module to successfully complete the self-survey.  The status LED will either remain "blinking green" (performing survey) until I give up or might eventually go "blinking yellow" (not enough or no satellites). I have even placed our hardware outside in the parking lot. Still can't get past the "blinking green" status.

We are currently using the NI Trimble magnetic mount antenna (https://www.ni.com/en/search.html?q=782573-01).

Does anyone know a solution for this?

As a side note, does anyone have a recommendation for a GPS antenna to field deploy with? It will need to be waterproof/weatherproof for a stationary application.

Thanks.

Hi rlk874,

This device is really complicated to troubleshoot. It's not easy to see if the problem is the antenna or the module. If any of them is the problem, the solution is to have it repaired so I recommend you to use the support channel.

There is a project in LabVIEW native examples that uses most of the 9467's functionalities. This could allow you to do some testing but I imagine you've done something like this

It's not very likely but the problem can be the cRIO, are you sure it's working?

Thanks for the response.

We have two hardware test environments and both exhibit the same behavior (brand new hardware).

I will take your advice and pursue the support channel option.
