PC to chassis communication

When the PC to chassis connection is unplugged under rugged environment can that condition be detected based on coding.Let me consider I am using 8371 remote controller and PXIe 1078 chassis.This is for my own understanding.

PXI(e) is based on PCI.  What happens if you remove a PCI card and try to put it back in while the computer is running?  Well, an error will happen with the removal and the computer won't recognize it again because the PCI connections are established on boot up.

Since you are in a rugged situation, you might want to consider getting an embedded PXIe controller and then communicating with it over ethernet.
