can't find crio cards

Fairly new to NI, Labview and Compact RIO.  I am setting up a CompactRio 9024 for the first time.  The MAX and Labview Project can not find any devices, interfaces or cards that I have installed in the chasis.  The cards that I have are (in order starting at the processor):

  1. 9403 Discrete I/O
  2. 9205 analog input
  3. 9269 analog output
  4. 9269 2nd analog output
  5. 9871 RS422/RS485 serial

The chasis is a 9118.

Here is what I know for sure:

  • MAX can see the 9024, but can see any of the devices
  • all switches on 9024 are in the off position
  • no projects or other software has been loaded onto the 9024 - no configuration from factory defaults
  • the power LED is green
  • the status LED is flashing orange - 2 quick flashes followed by a pause
  • cards are firmly seated with no bent pins
  • I've restarted my computer and the 9024 several times
  • I've refreshed the MAX several times (View>Refresh)

So, how do I get the 9024 to show which I/O cards are installed so that I can begin creating a Labview project?

Thanks,
CC

Hi Ccathey,

This is expected behavior. Check out this article.

Cheers!

T-Rex- Thanks for pointing me the right direction.

All-

I am following the getting started manual.  MAX can see the compact rio (ComStatus.PNG).  But when I try to add/remove software (step #12), I get a communications fault:

FailurePopup.PNG

Also, I can't ping the crio.

Any ideas on what I am missing?

Thanks

CC

Hi ccathey,

It looks like you're getting a bad IP. How are you connecting the cRIO to your PC? Are you going through a router, or are you directly connected via a crossover cable? From your previous post, it sounds like you were able to connect, but after the reformat and IP Reset, you can't?

Cheers!

I am connected through a router.  According to MAX I am connected after the formating and the IP reset, but I run into problems with the software add/remove.

ccathey,

Is the IP address the same before and after attempting step 12? Are you able to ping the device before trying to install software? In MAX, what is the status of the device (I'm guessing it reads connected-unconfigured)? That said, lets try connecting directly via crossover cable and Link Local for now. This will just eliminate another variable from the system.

Cheers!
