how do i connect a incremental encoder(e50s8-3600-3-t-24) with a c-series module for speed measurement using crio?the encoder doesn't show any signal in NI MSO virtual bench when rotated by hand?need help

What Crio and C series module are you using? It'll be helpful to know to see what connections you need to make.
Also an you post code.
From this spec sheet:
http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1658254.pdf
The red and black wire is your A lines, white and grey are B lines, orange and yellow is your z reference and you need a 12-24v power supply.
After that you can just code in a 32-bit counter to see when a rising or falling edge occurs.

I am using crio-9067.I havent used any c-series module yet(please suggest which one to use).I was just checking the output voltage level of the encoder using NI MSO and hand rotation of the encoder but i get only noise signals.what to do?can i use an IR sensor for the same purpose?

also my encoder has only A,B,Z,+V and 0 lines

I'd recommened NI 9472 to power the encoder or any 24v power supply, and to take readings off the encoder use NI 9401.
Connect A to to DIO0 (Pin 14) A/ to COM (Pin 1)
Connect B to to DIO1 (Pin 16) B/ to COM (Pin 3)
Connect Z to to DIO2 (Pin 17) Z/ to COM (Pin 4)
You can also use and infared if you want, I don't think it'll make a difference.

thanks for the help.but I don't have a 9401 module.Can you suggest any other?

What C series modules do you have avaialable? Something with TTL would be ideal.

i am useing c-series module 9421, for signal acquisition, can suggest me how to find speed, while useing any signal node (i.e A,B or Z)

I've sent you a pm. However I doubt NI 9421 can measure your encoder as the logic level is 11-30V for the high state.

thanks...... i will try...
