I am trying to use NI-9225E with NI-sbRIO 9642XT to measure DC value and frequency of AC source. The source frequency is at 1500 Hz and voltage is 68Vrms. Thanks.

Let me clarify my requests: 9225E acts like a ADC so DC voltage can be read from the board. Can we read the rms value and frequency of the input AC source?

Hello WYL,
Yes, you can. You can use the "Basic Averaged DC-RMS" for the RMS and the "Extract Single Tone Information". You can use the AI data channels to read in the AI information and then use "Build Waveform" to create a waveform data type so you can wire it to the VI's stated previously.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for reply. In the specification, I can see the 3 outputs of NI-9225 to the 3 phases source and DC values data available. I think the problems are: What other parameters will be passed from NI-9225 card to sbRIO 9462XT? Are there any info beside DC value?
The input to "Basic Averaged DC-RMS" is a waveform (analog Input). Do you mean I have to use another Analog input to read the AC waveform directly and use that express VI to convert? The problem with this approach is the high input voltage (68V).
Do you have a sample screen shoot when NI-9225 is connected to a cRIO or sbRIO?

Hello Robert,
I am sorry, but I can’t seem to find the specific sbRIO 9462XT. Attached is a screenshot of the sbRIO with an sbRIO 9602. This RIO (in this context called chassis) has 3 channels that you can use to connect a C Series module on, namely, the 9225.
Like you said, you can read your AI (Analog Input) data as a waveform so you can use the “Basic Averaged DC-RMS” VI to get the RMS value, which comes from that same VI as a double. You can then use the “Extract Single Tone Information” VI (which is not an express VI) to get the frequency, which comes as a double, as well.
There should be no problem with the high voltage, as the 9225 is a 300 VRMS module. Just remember to follow the specifications.

Thanks. Resolution is reached.
