If on my laptop I try to open an NI Switch Executive Test Panel in NI MAX (Version 18.5.0f0) for a "Simulated NI-DAQmx Device or Modular Instrument" it displays the message "Initializing Virtual Device" but is otherwise blank and hangs indefinitely. The Debug Panel opens perfectly fine. I attempted to rectify using Tools -> Reset Configuration Data but that does not help.
So far as I can tell comparing computers in the lab connected to actual PXIe-2569 and PXIe-2575 hardware to what is happening on my laptop is that actual hardware must be present and a simulated device is not sufficient. But it does not provide any message that it does not work for a simulated device so I want to confirm if this is the reason.
