Test System Security Summit Invitation - May 2023

You are invited to attend our next NI Test System Security Summit scheduled for Monday, May 22, 2023 from 1-3 pm Central Time. This event will be held in the Austin Convention Center with an option to attend virtually. There is no cost to attend.

Register now at https://forms.office.com/r/1mKLS14jga. If you cannot access this site, you can register by sending an email to steve.summers@ni.com.

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together system engineers, security experts, and IT professionals to advance our mutual understanding of operational technology security. We hold this meeting every 6 months with participants from a variety of industries.

Agenda for May 22:

Establishing a secure development process for LabVIEW

LabVIEW-based systems interact with the real world. As developers, we need to be aware of the risks this places on the systems that we deliver. This presentation will introduce a secure software development process for LabVIEW, and dives into specific concerns LabVIEW developers must consider when developing systems using LabVIEW.

Sam Sharp is a Certified LabVIEW Architect and LabVIEW Champion. Sam has worked with LabVIEW for more than 13 years and develops products using LabVIEW for the pharmaceutical and customs/airport security markets at Agilent Technologies. He is a regular presenter at GDevCon, GLA Summit, and other expert developer events. Over the last year, he has been navigating product and software security, becoming an (ISC)2 member and training to become a Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional.

Encryption in LabVIEW

Encryption is a basic requirement of security. How does encryption work? What kind of security is good enough for your customers? How do you implement it in LabVIEW? This presentation will describe encryption from the ground up using LabVIEW. It will describe how to implement AES and SHA-256 encryption in LabVIEW and identify tools to make this possible.

Steve Summers is the security lead for NI’s aerospace, defense, and government business.

Vulnerability testing of test systems

Successful security requires knowing how your system is vulnerable to attacks so that you can prepare defenses against those attacks. This will be a roundtable discussion of how system engineers plan for vulnerability testing for operational technology – especially test systems.

We are working on a list of experts to lead this session. If you want to be included, contact Steve Summers.

This event is being held in the Austin Convention Center the day before NI Connect, which is May 23-24 (https://www.ni.com/en/events/niconnect.html). If you are coming for NI Connect, come one day early to join us in person!
