BAD DIO RoboRio 2

I have a brand new RoboRio 2 and the DIO ports are no longer working.  The rio boots with an error light indicating a short.

Please replace the BRAND NEW RIO.

Thank you,

JH

Hi Jheitman, this is Juan Garcia with NI.

We understand that you recently received this device and shortly stopped working properly. Did the device work when it arrived and then the issues started, or was it faulty from the beginning?

Before we proceed with the replacement, we would like to exhaust the troubleshooting steps, A solid red power light indicated that the roboRIO is detecting a shorted power rail, likely that residual shavings got into the casing, resulting in the light status.

Please open the device using the four screws on the back and the two screws at the power port, and clean the circuit board off using compressed air. Also, if possible, use a flashlight to inspect the board closely for any remaining metal shards. You can try as follows:

1. Turning the roboRIO upside down and shaking it vigorously.

2. Vacuuming out the ports on the roboRIO.

3. Use canned air or compressed air to clear the hardware pinpoints.

4. Check with a flashlight for material making contact in the port pinout.

It stopped about 1 day after use.  I have tried your steps and it still is not working.
