Hello. Mentor for Team 247. Berkley, Michigan.
We are getting a flashing status light, which according to the manual means "contact National Instruments" So, here I am.
Our story so far:
After being unable to download new software to one of our robots, I concluded (rightly or wrongly, but I think rightly) that the 2023 image on the robot was incompatible with the 2024 WPILib deploy. (The error message referenced an invalid image, but we had downloaded software from an old computer a few weeks before. It was when we upgraded to 2024 that things went off bad.)
After trying some unsuccessful things, I decided to upgrade the image. The upgrade failed, repeatedly. It would start, and then after a few minutes would get the failure screen. On the Rio, the status light starts blinking continuously at that point.
Ultimately, I decided to boot to Safe Mode and try again. I hold the button down, and wait for it to turn on, release it, and the status light starts blinking continuously.
I have verified my cables work. When the Rio starts, it will go to what appears to be a normal mode. At that point I can connect a Driver's Station, and I will get green lights for comms and code, using either USB or Ethernet. I can also change from enabled to disabled at that point. However, the software on the machine is just "dummy" software, i.e. a shell that is created by creating a new project. That was what was loaded most recently onto that robot.
Just to be sure I downloaded a brand new set of game tools including RoboRIO configuration tool, 24.0.2, last night. (Monday, 10/21/2024)
So, summary:
Unable to deploy software.
Unable to reload configuration
(RoboRIO is detected. 2023 image is reported.)
Able to connect driver station using USB or Ethernet.
Able to enable and disable when connected via driver station.
Unable to enter Safe Mode - continuous flashing light.
Unable to download Firmware.- Download begins, then fails, continuous flashing light
Any recommendations?

Hi,
I hope you are doing well.
My name is Thays, from NI.
You mentioned that installed this new image as an upgrade, however, it looks like there is some corrupted information with the installation. DId you try to delete all the NI Software and try from zero without anything that could be corrupted?

Thanks for the reply. Yes.
I found a post on ChiefDelphi that might help. It involves a fat 32 USB stick, but I was unable to download the code. We had an issue and couldn't get into our build room for the last couple of weeks. Construction related. I haven't been able to test it.
So, so far, nothing that works, but there is a procedure that looks like it might.

Hi,
Could you proceed with a factory reset of the roboRIO? This article includes how to make the factory reset of the roboRIO 1.0, FRC roboRIO STATUS LED Constantly Flashing - NI
