Roborio 2.0 Not Retaining SD Card

Hello,

I am the programming/electrical mentor for team 2054. The SD card slot is not holding onto the SD card when we try to install it.

We purchased a new roborio through andymark in the fall of 2024, I believe October. The rio has been in storage and we have never used it until install into the 2025 competition robot. We are looking to get it replaced or get it repaired.

This is Diego from NI support.

About the card slot that is not holding the SD card, this can be related with the card or the slot being slightly damanger or not fully insterted.

Please make sure that the card isn't physically damaged, try other sdcards  to confirm if the problem persists

Could you also check if there are metal shavings inside the case of the usb? You can do this by 

1. Turn the roboRIO upside down and shake it vigorously.
2. Vacuuming out the ports on the roboRIO.
3. Check with a flashlight for material making contact in the port pinouts.

I will try these tonight.

I have tried a couple SD cards and no luck. I tried installing in multiple orientations and have tapped on it to see if there is anything in there. I will try compressed air tonight.

No luck testing the previously mentioned items. Everything looks clean. I can get it to partially grab if I push over on the SD card but if you brush it pops back out right away.

Advice on moving forward?
