Time sync of multiple GPSDOs on X310s

Hello everyone,

I am trying to time synchronize multiple X310's equipped with GPSDOs using GPS time. Using direct connection to a common GPS simulator signal, I am looking at the simultaneous PPS outputs from several X310s after setting up the clocking, checking for GPS lock and setting the Device Time to GPS time. I observe that after some time, the PPS signals do converge to within approximately <10ns of each other, however, this appears to take a very long time, on the order of ~12 hours, and if I restart this process, the PPS signals will start wandering again and similarly take a long time to converge.

I observe the device will report it has GPS lock after a few minutes, but the PPS signals can still be >100 nsec apart and continue to wander for hours until they eventually converge near each other.

Has anyone else observed this long convergence time, or found a solution to make them converge more quickly?

Also, a secondary question, I have also used common external PPS and 10 MHz clock inputs from the GPS simulator which results in the X310 and PPS output signals to be converged instantly, with approximately only 2-4 nsec offset between the PPS signals.. I am wondering if it is possible to input only the external PPS signals (and not the 10 MHz clock) and have the internal 10 MHz clock be disciplined by the external PPS signal?
