noise floor

hello,my project is about to use usrp card to simulate psk digital modulation then insert impulsive noise and check how the transmission response by calculating the BER of the transmission.

i have one question about the noise floor of usrp card.because i would like to have a clear vision about noise floor of usrp card then calculate the SNR that here signal power level is my receving part. the main reason for calculating SNR is to plot a figure the x axis is SNR and y axis is the BER.

thanks very much.

Hey edwardfu,

Which daughterboard and motherboard combination are you using?  The different daughterboards have slightly different noise floors, and the noise floor is also a function of frequency and bandwidth.

Can you tell me a little more about your system?  Are you using your USRP as a transmitter or receiver?  Or are you trying to use one device to do both?

thanks for the replying and here is the all the details about my project:there are two NI usrp 2920 board that one of them is transimitter and the other is the recevier.the transmitting and receving frequency is 433MHz and the bandwidth is around 100kHz. the impulsive noise is from my signal generator which is controlled by tmtool in matlab in another computer.hopefully there is enough for solving my problem but let me know if there are more information that u need.thanks.

I am having USRP 2920 and LFTX and LFRX daughter boards. Can you tell me about their noise floor. I am using two separate USRPs one as Transmitter and Receiver.

Awaiting to hear from you.

Thanks

JK
