Hi all,
I have encountered the problem that on some PCs running with a generic user account fpr training purpose, the license manager will not grant any of my volume licenses. How can I get LabVIEW to contact the license server with a user name different to the windows logon name? I have already tried Tools--> User name but it did not fix the problem.
I'm still running 8.2.1 on those computers.
Regards
Oli

Hey Oli,
Do you have user-based licenses or computer based licenses? From your description, it sounds like you have multiple user-based licenses and multiple training computers where the Windows usernames are all identical. Is this correct? If this is the case then you should be able to grant one volume license to that username but it won't let you grant more than one license to the same name. Changing LabVIEW settings won't fix this as this issue deals more with Windows and VLM. In order to fix this you can either go into windows and create new usernames or you could call in and we could get you switched to computer-based license and you should be good to go.

Hi Lars,
indeed I have a volume license agreement with name based licenses. The problem is, that on all of my training computers, the logon name is identical, but I don't have the possibility to create different windows users. So I think, I'll call NI to get a temporary computer based license file.
Thanks!
