Hey Jack - it's probably my fault that color didn't get changed on the forums. I considered it briefly but never got around to making the request. I've made it now and we can change that color as well so watch for that some time next week.
Thanks,
Laura

It's not your fault at all.
The Idea Exchange adheres to a separate layout and interface from the other threads, and the different Kudos buttons is just a single indicator of the larger problem: the Idea Exchange needs all the features that the other boards already have (e.g., forces you to search prior to posting, a good text editing interface for comments, the ability to Kudos comments, the ability to tag comments, the ability to upload files in comments....). Some things were added in this update (pagination of comments, most notably), but it's just surprising that rather than reusing core functionality of the other boards, the Idea Exchange was written from the bottom up, and we're having to wait between upgrades for them to rewrite features that already exist. Given enough time and resources, the Idea Exchange could be developed to be as powerful as it needs to be, but why?
I personally feel vicariously embarrased from a third-party point of view watching myself beat a dead horse, a horse that I only have access to using Laura as an interface.
And Laura, if I'm way off base here, by all means, correct me! I have such a limited viewpoint (I can only see what your web servers deliver to my browser). I have no access to insiders, no access to Lithium's priorities list (other than their Idea Exchange). All I can see is that someone at Lithium spent time making icons that were not as good, and in the meantime, the Search Engine still returns different results when you search for a term by its singular or plural term. Again, correct me if I'm off base here, but feature/bugfix priorities seem misguided.

Let's see... Let's try a little test....
(comes back a little later)
Well, it seems to be the case only when using the Insert Image in the text editor toolbar. You can still attach a renamed .bmp file to the message.

Running IE8 on XP.
Tried to refresh on the LV main screen and got this
for about 2 minutes then gave up and hit refresh to help it along.
My Task manager showed no CPU usage and network was flat until I hit the refresh again.
It may not be slow on the inside but its dog slow on the outside.
