More Broken Links

Hi @Hooovahh,

I've asked our curation team to take a look at this to see if we can fix it.

Thank you,

Mark

I think every link to a help manual is broken.  In the past someone would have a link to a specific page of the help manual like:

http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370051AC-01/cvi/uiref/cvidisplayimagefile/

This is supposed to bring you to the CVI manual about the Display Image File function.  Now instead it just takes you to the main page of the CVI help manual.  A new user is going to click a link on the forums that is supposed to help them with a specific task, and they will be taken to a page that is the intro help for a very large subject.  In this case if I search "display image file" I get 383 pages of results. If I search "displayimagefile" I get 10 results.  Which one was the page supposed to go to?  I could guess but a novice user is going to be lost.  If NI is insisting on revamping the help documentation, they should have redirects in place so that the decades of help isn't lost.

I wanted to find specifications on a 9375.  I googled the product which brought me to this page.

https://www.ni.com/en-us/support/model.ni-9375.html

From there I click Manuals

From there I get a set of search results, with the second link labeled "NI 9375 Datasheet - NI-9375 Specifications".  I click it and I go to Page Not Found.  Every single time I need to find any hardware documentation, I find missing links.

Hi,

Here's the link for the specs. https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/ni-9375-specs/page/overview.html

I will log this feedback too. Thank you!

I have updated your post.

"I hope that you don't have to manually fix 499,998 more links." - we are looking at more automated ways to identify and fix them vs manually fixing all of them.

Best,

Mark

I am here to report a broken link and saw the above.  See https://www.softwaretestinghelp.com/broken-link-checker/  Looks like many companies face this issue.

Hi Terry, thank you for reporting this.  I have sent the feedback to the team in charge of editing the links. For future reference, you can use the "Was this information helpful?" buttons and you can send feedback directly to them.

Thank you for the report. The team created a new version of that item which can be found here: https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA03q0000019iiYCAQ&l=en-US

We will be redirecting the old link.

Thanks,

Mark

Hello, everybody.

For anybody else facing broken links in product documentation, you can do one of the following:

1. Mark 'No' in the 'Was this Information Helpful?' box, which will prompt you to fill out a report.

2. Use the 'Site Feedback' option at the bottom of the page, which will also send a ticket to the team in charge.

This routes your reports to the responsible people.

If we use this route, will we get notified when the correction is applied?
