Ben & Friends -

I'd be happy to post announcements to the entire community when they make sense for the entire community. For example, I use the announcements to bring attention to the polls right now since they are only visible within one board at a time.

Side Note - You guys have great ideas for the social board name! I will have to dig through your ideas and comments and try to make a new list and have another quick race before we name it. The race between Water Cooler and Coffee Shop was surprisingly close, but you all have been so much more creative and clever!

Unfortunately, the only option we have with the system now is for all announcements to come through the moderator. I will see if there is anything else we can do about this and let you know.

Thanks!

The only thing a little odd about this is that you will jump between all the threads in the board, but I guess that's the point, right?

Wrong. That's not the point. The point is the jump to the new messages in a particular thread. While most long threads tend to be on this board, where there aren't a lot of messages, and you (at least I) would probably want to read them all anyway, This could also happen, for example, in the LV board, where jumping between threads will be annoying. The numbers I refered to are the links found at each post (post X of Y).
This is actually basically the same as what you wrote about email subscriptions - I could use the subscriptions to get to all the new posts, and I could sort all messages by date, but I want a convenient interface AND I want to keep the context. On that note, I believe this was discussed, but is there any option to have an indented look, like in the old system? I briefly reread "enthusiasts 2" yesterday, and it was almost impossible to follow. It looks like when a thread gets to be that long, the only way to read it is to sort by date.

Welcome back Molly,

We all missed you.

I'm glad that you are open to the idea of new names..
I like JP's (I think it was him) suggestion of "The BreakPoint".

As you read the latests posts in "Enthusiasts-II", you'll notice that there is quite a variety of topics going on.
I am glad to see that other people are "chatting". It brings us closer together rather than the fierce competitors from the previous style of forum.. We need this to foster a feeling that people can ask for help no matter how far-fetched the problem or idea is...

After all.. test automation is a world of far-fetched creative ideas to provide last minute solutions, right? 😉

Molly,

Is it possible to have a single thread appear in the list of "THREADs" that are shown in our profile? Especially when I look at "Find ll posts by this user"?

For instance, a thread appears for each and every reply that I made within this thread. I only care about a single index. It would make finding a post easier and a cleaner list.

Thanks,

Ray

I Wanted to point out something else I noticed following a CC post - it seems that using the edit feature allows you to post multiple files to one post. I knew you could remove your previous attachment, but I didn't realize you could add attachments. Molly, how many can you attach? I'm going to try using an empty text file. On a bright note, this allows people posting html code linking to pics to correct the address if necessary.

If memory serves me right... (and I hope it still does)

In the old forum, we could upload up to 3 files.
You are right, the new one only allows 1 at a time, unless you add them using Edit.

Good trick tst.

It does. The old system did allow three files (that's assuming my memory serves me right).
The trick isn't mine. Like I said, I saw it in CC's post.
I actually prefer the way the old system worked in this respect. If you need to upload more than 3 files, you would probably prefer to zip\llb them anyway and editing the post to add files is an inconvenient (though working)workaround, especially in long threads.

Well, I must recognize that the possibility to have several attachments was discovered by accident. However I'm trying to make the most of it (see The List) to avoid multiple posts when I must send a file larger than 20 ko... just to escape tst and Altenbach criticisms !

CC

PS Of course this is a completly useless post. But I don't care as long as I can keep JLV behind...
Ahem... not sure if that will be enough !

I have found that if I see someone appraoching quickly from behind, it is a good idea to slow down and let them pass.

You get a much better view of the accident from that view point.

This is a really wise comment. I promise to maintain a quiet (?) 3 r/d average rate. As you said, this is not a sprint, but rather a marathon... 😄
