remote device

Hi all!

The question is how to connect a remote device to the LabView? I've got HS digitizer in PCI slot of Linux machine and I need to link it with LabView witch is installed under Window... I understand that the question is damp but I'm new to all this staff... Or can anybody give me a link to start with?

Thanks a lot.

Babay,

i am not sure if this is solveable at all to your needs. Why's that?
a) Linux != Linux. NI supports the three major distributions: SuSE, RedHat and Mandriva (formerly Mandrake).
b) Refer to this link what you should do to prepare the system for sharing the device. I doubt that this can be done in Linux the same way because NI-HSDIO is not supported in Linux (at least not now). So the device should not work in your current setup at all....
c) Regarding this link i gave in first part of b), the way of usage is RT-> Windows, not Windows -> RT. Well, it should work both ways, but i dont know for sure....

Just a quick clarification - "HS Digitizers" are supported by NI-Scope, not NI-HSDIO.  NI-Scope IS supported by the Linux drivers that Norbert listed...

Ok, Chris is right about my failure with the HS digitizer  Smiley Sad..... here is quite a good KB what is supported in Linux and what not. So you could give it a try, but still i am not sure if it works jsut the way it does in Windows -> RT....

Hello Babay,

Unfortunately, the solution described in the previous post, will not work for you.  That link describes connecting to a remote device in an RT system (a controller running the LabVIEW Real-Time OS), not a Linux system.

Do you have LabVIEW on your Linux system?  If so, you could use VI Server to access the device remotely.  See the following documentation for help on this feature:
http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361A-01/lvconcepts/capabilities_of_the_vi_server/

Alternatively, you could post the front panel of your LabVIEW VI to the Web and control it remotely via the internet.  See the following link for help:
http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/lv/71/lvhelp/Publishing_VI_Front_Panels/

I hope this helps.  Please let me know if you have any further questions.
