Using Agilent 4155B with GPIB

Hi guys,

I got a computer with labview installed and an Agilent 4155B connected to it via GPIB. The GPIB card is an Agilent 82350 PCI GPIB card.

I would now like to verify that the setup works fine and then use the 4155B for measurements.

The GPIB card is listed in the Windows device manager and no errors are displayed there. There is also an Agilent IO software installed which is called Agilent Connection Expert. Also here no errors are displayed and the device appears to have the GPIB address 29.

When I now have a look at the Measurement and Automation Explorer, I'm not sure if everything is installed correctly. The only thing that appears to have something to do with GPIB is Devices and Interfaces -> Miscellaneous VISA Resources, where two devices are listed:

- GPIB0::INTFC

- GPIB0::29::INSTR "smu"

Is one of them my GPIB card?

According to some tutorials I found on the web I should click on the GPIB card and then choose the option "Scan for instruments", but this option does not appear anywhere.

How can I verify that the GPIB card and the 4155B are installed correctly in MAX or if they are not installed correctly install them?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Stefan

It would have worked that way when you had a NI gpib card. Now with an agilent gpib card look at:

Thanks a lot for the tipp! I only had to activate 488 in the Agilent 488 properties section of the Agilent IO.

The MAX still doesn't really work with it, but Labview can read and write to the device now!
