DSC 8.5.1 incompatible with products already installed

I am trying to install DSC 8.5.1 on a WinXP system with LabVIEW 8.5.1 and 8.6.1 already installed. When I try to install the DSC module, the installer tells me the module will not be installed because "This feature is incompatible with products already installed on the computer." Can anyone tell me which products are incompatible with the DSC module?

Hello Chuck,

I couldn’t find any incompatibilities regarding the DSC module with other versions of LabVIEW or any other software on the readme file nor other documentations. I have, however, seen cases where installing a version of DSC that is older than a later version of LabVIEW installed might cause problems. Try uninstalling LabVIEW 8.6.1 and re-try to install DSC 8.5.1. If that fails, try uninstalling all NI Software and then install LabVIEW 8.5.1, then DSC 8.5.1. If that is successful, I would go ahead and install LabVIEW 8.6.1.

Well, installing in that order worked, except that the DSC module menu item does not show up in the block diagram pop-up menu in LabVIEW 8.6.1. I've tried to do a repair to the DSC module after installing 8.6.1, but no luck. It shows up in 8.5.1, but not 8.6.1. Any ideas?

Hello Chuck,

I am glad that it worked. Seems that it was LabVIEW 8.6.1 the incompatible product the installer was complaining about. In order to install the DSC module for LabVIEW 8.6.1, you would need to install DSC 8.6.1, as the module and the LabVIEW version need to match.

Thanks. I didn't realize there was a DSC 8.6.1. I'll have to dig that one up.
