Driver for OBD II Universal Automotive On Board Data Link

Does anyone know of a Labview Driver for talking OBD II Universal Automotive
On Board Data Link. I would like to talk to a Ford EEC-V computer using
my laptop through a serial port. OBD-II is a standard communication link
for most automobiles.

About the only thing standard for OBDII is the connector. Ford uses Pulse
Width Modulation (PWM)..the are two others used by GM, Chrysler & foreign
automobiles. go to http:\\www.obdII.com they do a pretty good job at
explaining it.

Go here http://www.autotap.com/autotap.html for a $250 interface that
converts the OBD-II data into a serial stream that hooks to a laptop - I was
going to do the exact same thing, but to this point have not fully reverse
engineered the autotap protocol - I plan to do this by using two computers,
one running the autotap software, and another sniffing the serial port
traffic to see what the autotap software is sending to the autotap
interface. I have not been successful in getting Autotap to reveal the ICD
for their "black box". However I can assure you that you don't want to
build your own.

I ran into this webpage during my search for such a driver: http://www.drewtech.com/downloads/labview.html

I haven't had a chance to play with it at all with my car (ISO-9141 interface, Subaru Legacy) but I know that my car works with a laptop serial port, as this is how I can capture real-time data from the car.

I expect this software should get you there, but as I recall, some ECUs use OBD2, but they don't communicate in a "standard serial" fashion... so YMMV.

EDIT: Sorry for resurrecting an ancient thread!
