GPIB-USB support for recent linux kernels?

I noticed a post here saying that as of 9 months ago there were no known plans for supporting GPIB-USB devices on 2.6.25 or later kernels?  Does anyone have any more recent information regarding this issue?

Thanks

Hi Kevin,

Unfortunately, there is no time table for such a release. Did you try the other suggestions listed in that post?

Im currently running a 2.6.23 kernel, however I dont want to be stuck with an old kernel for the next 15 years.  I didnt try the open source driver.  Will this happen when you decide to support RHEL 6, Mandriva 2009, or SUSE 11 since those all currently do or will have kernels later than 2.6.25?  Or will you just drop linux support for these devices then?  If you do plan on never fixing this (which to me seems more likely than not since you havent fixed it in the 1.5 years since the change was released or the 3.5 years since the change was announced), will you put that on the product pages for these devices so when people look to buy them they realize that they will have to run an old and unmaintained kernel or use an unsupported driver if they want them?

Hi Kevin,

I would suggest you file a product suggestion if you would like to see support for a particular kernel or linux distributions. You can file a product suggestion at ni.com and select contact NI the select feedback. These product suggestions go directly to R&D. I can file a product suggestion for you, but R&D pays more attention to suggestions from customers than from staff. Let me know if you have any more questions.
