How to report an error with one of the example programs?

I was looking for an easy task to ease my way back into working mode after the holiday period, so I thought I'd check out some of the new features of LV 8. The example code - Programmatically Annotate a Graph.vi was where I ended up. A fine piece of code which gave me just what I needed. I was just about to close the program down and try a few things out on my own program when I spotted a problem with the way it calculates the average value. A minor point really since the program is all about the use of annotating the graph, then I thought of the many times I've made use of the example code as the basis of my own small programs. Maybe I should let NI know so they can correct it for the future.

That's when things stated to get tricky. The NI web site is a tremendously helpful site but sometimes it's very hard to find just what your looking for, especially when your not functioning at your best. Just how do you contact NI with a simple comment which they might find helpful? Well after some time I've ended up here (not sure I can remember exactly how).

I know it's a few days late but Happy New Year to the hard working Labview comunity.

At the top of the page, under the NI logo, you should see a Contact NI link. This will take you to a page where you can choose to submit product feedback.

Reading your reply makes me think I should have tried harder, I realy am finding it dificult to get back into work mode!!

Actually I did go to that link, but I returned from there and went into the Report a Bug link instead. I'll go off and try again.

Thanks

The report a bug link (actually called Request Support) is the correct link to use to report a bug, including a bug in an example program. The Product Feedback link is used to submit suggestions via the Product Suggestion Center (e.g. to suggest a new feature or function, add something to a palette, suggest we document a procedure, etc.).  The support folks are instructed to let reporters through trhe support channels when they are reporting a bug, even if they don't have phone or email support. Just make sure you make it clear that you are reporting a bug.

Bugs are sometimes reported via the Product Suggestion Center, but they are then converted to a bug report internally (hopefully soon after being filed). The problem though is that suggestions do not receive the same priority handling that bugs do, so there's a chance our reacting to it might be delayed if it is reported through the suggestion center. For the situation here, reaction time is a non-issue, but that's not always the case.

I filed a bug report for the example here, noting the number of samples used to calculate the average is off by one.

Thanks for the taking the time to follow up on this.
