Installing labView 8.2 while having labView 2012 installed?

My old computer which was equipped with labView 8.2 has crashed and I had to replace it with new one. Now I have installed labView2012 and according to the developer of a labView interface for a device in our lab, I need to install labView 8.2 in order to use the interface properly.

I have couple of questions:

1. is it possible to install labView 8.2 while having labVIew 2012. If yes where can I find 8.2 version.
2. I have tried to install labView 8.2.1 run time and did not install and I got a message that I have a newer version. What should I do to make it work?

Yes, it is possible to install 8.2.1 on the same machine as LabVIEW 2012.  Not all device drivers support both versions though.  Your local NI Rep will be happy to supply you with media to install old versions of LabVIEW.

The 8.2.1 Runtime was probably installed with the LabVIEW 2012 installer.  Check MAX Software to see which patch you have

You can install LabVIEW 8.2 along with 2012.  I have 2011 as well on my machine.  Where you will run into problems is with drivers.  As already said, few if any of the drivers will work with LabVIEW 8.2.

You can still download the LabVIEW 8.2 installer.  Go to NI's home page and do a search for "LabVIEW 8.2.1 download".  The first link will be a download.
