Upgrade reinstall labview 8.5 8.6

Hello,

I would like upgrade labview 8.5 to 8.6. My question is, should I upgrade directly or uninstall labview 8.5 first and install labview 8.6 afterwards?

you can use both versions side by side.

You are right. Yet my concern is, what advantage I gain of having both since  am going to compile the existing VIs to 8.6 and work with 8.6. in this case would it matter what method I do to get the current labview (8.5) to (8.6) (i.e. upgrade or install)?

Hi mssm22,

if you never again use LV85 on this pc, then you can uninstall it, before installing the new version. You can also unistall it later.

The only way to use 8.6 is to install it. It's not a 'patch' to 8.5. Once upon a time (like around 4.0), installing a new version overwrote the old. Thankfully, that no longer happens.
