Why is the typecast function deprecated?

I notice that the typecast function is placed in the Functions palette under 7.x functions.  Why is this?  It seems important enough to include in LabVIEW 8.x.

Not sure what you mean but in 8.2 it is under numeric>> data manipulation.

You're right.  What misled me is the search function on the palette.

If you enter "Type Cast" in the search window, and double-click on the Type Cast function that shows up in the list, and navigate up, you'll see that the one that shows up in the search is the one in the 7.x menu.

Also, a question for Altenbach.  What did you use to capture that screenshot with the red glow around the area that you wanted highlighted?  Or did you manually add that into the picture?

It's just a screendump. The cropping and the red glow was done manually in corel photopaint. 🙂

Do U mean 8.20 or 8.21 ?! I m bemused. In 8.21, it goes correctly to Numeric -->> Data Manipulation palette on double-clicking from Search.

The 7.x palette is part of the OpenG.org paletteset, and is created to keep up the speed of coding for the ones that are used to the 7.x layout

I have 8.21 installed.  But it seems like TonP is right, I have OpenG installed.
