can a file be converted into excel format?

I need to convert a file created using "format into file" into excel without using report generation toolkit.

Is this possible ?

Or is there any other way in which we can convert data into excel. Please explain as am new to this appl.

Excel should be able to read the filw without any conversion. Have you tried with the import options?

If you really want a native Excel file, you need to use ActiveX. Look through all of the examples on the Excel board (please don't post anything there).

Do you want a file that has "sheets". embedded formulas, and grahps in it or just a file that will be asociated and opend with Excell when doubble clicked on?

If you just want a file that will be opened with Excell use the write to spreadsheet vi. and save it with a .XLS extention, use tab (default) as the delimiter
