mac compilation

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi guys (and girls)

I'm working on my first mac poject.  I'm using code which I have more or less tested on Linux as being executable and I'm not using anything remotely like ActiveX or whatever.  I'm pretty sure it should run no problem on a mac.

Important question at the moment for me is (asuming the code runs OK on mac) would anyone be willing to create an installer for me so that I can pass the softwre on to a customer for testing on Mac?  I don't really fancy splashing out 3k on the development suite quite yet.....

Shane,

I may be able to help.  Which version of LV are you using?  Will the target be an Intel or PPC Mac?  I have not actually built an executable in recent versions of LV, so I won't promise I can do everything smoothly.

Lynn,

that'd be aboslutely great.

I have promised myself to get a mac version sometime soon, but I don't feel like giving away that money just yet....

If you have 8.2.1 that'd be perfect.  I haven't moved over to 8.5 or 8.6 yet.  It'll definitely be an intel target.

Shane,

I have 8.2.1 on my PPC machine and 8.5 and 8.6 on the Intel machine.  I can load 8.2.1 onto the Intel computer.

Maybe if enough people ask, NI will eventually create a  cross-compiler or offer some kind of discount for multiplatform development.

How do you want to proceed?

That would be great!  Even as is, I use linux soley at home, so their "bring one home" licensing scheme is useless to me 😞

How do we proceed?

Well I need to meet with the customer to see if we even get to project stage and then if I get that far, I'll post here again and if someone is kind enough to help me out, I'll buy them a few beers if I ever make it to NI week......  Or maybe I can do a LV favour in return.... (Or maybe send me a bill, whichever is easiest....)

Lynn, your answer gives me confidence to go to the customer and say that I'll manage to get the software compiled on a mac without having it myself.  Thanks a million.

Shane,

You are welcome.  I was not sure where you were in the project.   When you post again, I will see what I can do.

Hi Lynn (Or anyone else who might be paying attention),

I'm at the point where I require a compilation on Mac.  If the offer is still available, please send me your contact details at

shane.oneill [at] intaris.ch

and I'll get the code to you.  It's a small spectrometer program communication over USB (One of the reasons for my recent USB Nuggets).  It's written in 8.2.1.

Thanks a mil.

Shane.
