Is LabView able to read digital inputs from maxon motors controller, EPOS2?

Hello,

I would like to ask that if LabView is able to read any digital inputs directly from a maxon motor controller, EPOS2. As i have tried making a new VI from the maxon example VI, but the difference is that i've added a input control. But the program doesn't seems to work.

That's why i would like to ask if LabView can read a direct digital input from the maxon motor controller.

Thank You & Regards,

Hello ParkyPak

LabVIEW can read digital signal from motor controller but what hardware that you are trying to read the digital input from? What hardware that you are doing an output to do the input control? How do you connect your computer to the Maxon motor controller?

Hello,

The hardware that i'm trying to read from is a Photomicrosensor, EE SX-4070. This is the datasheets of the Photomicrosensor. http://www.omron.com/ecb/products/pdf/en-ee_sx3070_4070.pdf

The hardware that i'm trying to do an input of is the maxon motor, but i've got to have the maxon motor controller to read the digital input from the Photomicrosensor.

The EPOS2 motor controller is connected via USB to my computer.

Thank you & Regards,

Hello Parky,

I understand now. I check on the motion controller and it is connected through USB to your computer. In term of controlling the motion controller, you are using some LabVIEW library from maxon. The photosensor is connected to the motion controller may be as a switch or as a limit switch.

In order to read the value of the Digital input port, you may need to take a look of the libraries to check on what function call and the supported command to check the digital input port. If this is not successful, then question or referring to examples from Maxon motors would be the best.

I hope that this helps.

Hello James,

Thank you for your remind. Maybe that's the problem. As i've connected to photomicrosensor to the digital input of "General Purpose A" of the motor controller.

I'll try connecting the photomicrosensor to the "Limit Switch" input of the motor controller. But i would like to ask, if there's a "positive limit switch" and "negative limit switch", which do i use ?

Thank You & Regards,

Hello,

How could i read my sensor ouput in my LabView VI after i've connected it to the "Limit  Switch" input of the maxon controller?

Because the problem is that i do not how to insert the sensor output into my LabView VI and allow it to read, so i could control my motor.

Thank You & Regards,
