Couple of Questions regarding USB 6009

Solved!
Go to solution

1. What is the maximum voltage of analog signal? The data sheet says 10V range. What exactly does range mean? I know it seems like a pretty silly question but I would really appreciate your help.

2. After establishing signal, how do I go about calibrating this?

Ok never mind guys, I found out what range means. My question is, what is the minimum voltage required for it to run?

Also, how do I go about calibrating it?

6009 is 14 bit card with max range of ±10 v for Single-ended and ± 20 V range for Differential it means if you input voltage out of this range it will be show max saturated data(±10 or ± 20 V) also it is dangerous to overflow max voltage and you have to care about it
this card it standard card with 5 mv standard system noise (0.5mv for Differential in 1 v max setting)

also minimums range is
divide max voultage into 2^14 because it is 14 bit answer is 0.0012
but do not forget system noise

Hi hatef,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Could you clarify how you came to the answer 0.0012?

Sorry Hatef, I understood how you got the asnwer.

How do you go about calibrating it?

Again, my apologies. I have to calibrate an unltrasonic sensor, not the USB 6009.

you have to read your sensor manual and find the range also you need to know if sensor is current base or voltage base
if your sensor is current based you have to interpret that to voltage if you find your voltage is in low range you have to use signal conditioner if not just set your daq max voltage to sensor max voltage after that
in your sensor will be indicate what is relation between voltage or current with data
for example 0.1 volt for per 1 centimeter difference then use simple mathematics ( if it is linear sensor )
also take care if your sensor is Differential
unltrasonic is not ass i know and it is simple (take care of your accuracy to this sensor need high precision card for best answer (24 bit)
