Hello,
I have a NI 6210 usb device which I want to use in a virtual machine running in Sun VirtualBox.
The host OS is Vista, the OS in the virtual machine is XP.
It seems as if the sharing of the USB device between the two OS does not work properly.
I have installed the drivers fpr the 6210 in both, the host and the guest OS.
The device is properly detected in the host OS.
What I want to do is to use the usb device in the virtual machine only, it does not need to be available in the host OS.
But when I run the virtual machine, it seems as if the usb device switches between the host and the guest OS frequently, i.e. in one second, it appears in the host OS, in the next second it appears in the guest OS.Is there a way to "disable" the usb device in the host OS, so that it can be used by the guest OS exclusively?
I have also tried to use Windows7 as the host OS but with the same result as described above.
Thank you.
Christian

Hi Christian,
Can you tell me which verison of the DAQmx driver you are using? I'm aware of a case where it helps to update the DAQmx to the version 8.9. If you have an older version please upgrade. I hope you added a filter to the VirtuaBox as mentioned in the VirtualBox help file topic 3.7.9 USB support.

Hi Tom,
thanks for your reply.
I am currently using DAQmx 8.8 but I will try to upgrade to 8.9 and see if that helps.
I have added the filter to VirtualBox, I am also using other usb devices (like CAN adapter...) which work fine.
Regards,
Christian
