Be abble to refresh a STEP according to its STEP_TYPE ...

Hello,

It should be nice to be abble to refresh the STEP default options, according to it's STEP TYPE.

=> This should be made using a "REFRESH TYPE" command in the contextual menu (Right CLICK) of a STEP.

I'm not clear exactly on what you mean by "STEP default options". Perhaps an example would help illustrate what you mean.

I would like to be abble to modify the default options of a step, according to its STEP type.

In fact :

• I have custom STEPs which i modify frequently (run options ... )
• All STEP parameters of a STEP instance are not changed, when the corresponding STEP_TYPE is modifyed.
• So my need would be something like a REFRESH STEP, which could reinitialize all options of a STEP, according to its TEMPLATE.

Ex :

I have created a STEPTYPE on which many options are disabled (Because i want to force a particular execution)

If i modify my stepType (For example runoption.step failure causes sequence failure), this option is not reflected to existing step instances.

The problem is ... that i have disabled these option modifications !!!!

So i would like to be abble to "REFRESH" my step, in order that all default STEP TYPE options are applied.  

I hope this has clarify my need.

I see, it is clearer now. There is a feature that you might not be aware of that might help. When you modify a step type's settings, you can check the "Apply change to all instances of step type" checkbox near the bottom of the step type properties dialog. If this checkbox is checked, all currently loaded instances of the step type will be updated. It perhaps isn't ideal though or exactly what you are looking for. It should be possible to write a tool sequence for the tool menu that does pretty much what you are asking for though.

I have already done such a tool for one of my previous application (TestInView Clemessy).

The problem is not for loaded sequences ... the problem is for all other sequences thaht you have not loaded ...

It should be nice to reapply the "default" step behaviour to one or multiple steps or to sequences ... with a simple right click.
