Order Types Alphabetically in Type Selection Context Menu

Status: New

When assigning a type to a property, the list of types is in an unordered pile. In the next release, can someone please alphabetize it?

(PS. Do not ask about the context of this image. It's not pretty. 😏 )

I don't like this because alphabetization is just another arbitrary ordering that has nothing to do with how the types are used.  If the list of types is sorted, I want it sorted in a useful way.

Idea Exchange: Add-tree-structure-to-data-type-menu or something similar would be preferred

Hey there Warren, it's been a while. Hope you've been well during COVID isolation.

Okay, so alphabetization is "less arbitrary" 😉 but I'll concede that it's still a different flavor of arbitrary.

A tree structure would be great and it would make life a lot easier, especially when trying to traverse parent/child relationships. I'm trying to save model plugins for prior versions and matching up types is turning out to be a real chore.

I searched and I didn't see your request, so I'll vote for that one, too. (If you add tags it might come up more easily in a search)

I agree with your sentiment completely on your idea that it sucks for anything more than a handful of types.

It needs "something" and in lieu of the nice hierarchical view I'd vote for alphabetization over nothing.

IMHO, it would be better to have some search field. The same for TestStand API in expressions.
