Replicating a RT configuration from one PXI to another.

Solved!

Hi,

I am currently working on a PXIe-8881, who has been all configured and based on Linux RT System Image 2022 Q3. Bunch of NI softwares installed, and other files and shared libraries and a RT application running. It works fine.

But I am trying to build a simulation bay for the machine where the PXI is used. I have the same PXI and want to replicate the installation. This could also help us in case of a failure from the PXI being used right now, to be able to replace it and get it back to work quickly.

So, I want to replicate my PXI configuration and installation on another one (same model). I have tried duplicating the image through a Acronis USB device, back-upping the image and then deploying it on the new PXI, like we are used to do with "normal" computers. When finishing rebooting, the PXI get stuck on a black screen with the following message : "fail to initialyze ptp-kvm". (This message also appears when booting the working PXI, but promptly disappear and the boot goes well)

I have also tried using NI RAD Utility, retrieving the image works fine, but when deploying it to the new PXI, same problem as above the image gets deployed to 100% but then reboots the PXI and I get the same message on ptp-kvm, and it shows an error in the Restart.vi of RAD Utility.

In both cases, I can boot in safe mode, and I can check that all files have been fully transfered : it's the case.

I have also tried using a Desktop PC Utility USB Drive, but I can't boot the PXIe-8881 on it, I get the message "Failed to initialyze USB drive" when booting. It seems to me that those PXIe-8881 can't be used with such Utility USB Drive (maybe I am wrong and just doing smthing wrong).

I will appreciate any help, and don't know what to try next.
Thanks !

(Using NI MAX 2023Q4 but doesn't work better with 19.5)

Replication succeded using NI RAD Utility.

I changed the HDD Disk from my PXI by a spare one that I had, repeating the same steps than before but this time it worked completely. Seems something was wrong with the other disk maybe some boot parameters or error on the base image, I'll look into it, and try to make it work.
