How to configure digitizer NI PXI-5114

I am a new user of NI product.  I am going to use NI high-speed digitizer in my measurement system.  My configurition is the digitizer modular NI PXI-5114, the controller NI PXI-8331, and the chassis NI PXI-1031.  I installed the controller 8331 in slot 1 and digitizer 5114 in slot 2.  I already installed NI-scope driver in my computer.  And I connected the digitizer 5114 with my computer.  Then chassis NI PXI-1031 showed up in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) of my computer, but the digitizer 5114 was not detected in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).  I noticed that the LED (Access and Active) on the front pannel of 5114 did not light up.  So I wish to know if my configuration is correct, and how I can detect this NI digitizer 5114 in my computer.  Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Jhu,

Your configuration is correct; I will like to see what happens if you change the slot of the 5114? Make sure that you are following the steps from the manual: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371133j.pdf, chapter 3 to 7,  take a look to this resource for configuring your PXI device; http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/5902345227DFCA1286256EDA0063F50C?OpenDocument. Also take a look in MAX under the software folder and check that the NI-SCOPE is installed and that the drivers where install before the hardware was inside the slot.

Hi, Jaime F.

Thank you for your reply.  According to your suggestion, I changed the slot for the 5114. I installed the 5114 in the slot 3 and slot 4, but it still dosen't work, and the 5114 cannot be detected by the MAX.  I also checked the MAX under the software folder, the NI-Scope was already installed there ( I installed the software in the very begining). And the Chassis 1031 showed up in the MAX all the time.  I noticed that the Access and Active LED on the front panel of the 5114 are always off no matter when I installed the 5114 in slot 2 or slot3 or slot 4.  Is it possible that some problem may exist with this 5114?

Hi JHu,

Click here for the latest version of NI-SCOPE,  you said you have the drivers install but let’s make sure you have the latest one so go and download it form the link above and uninstall the one that you have before installing the new version. If you follow these step you can find what the Access and Active LED mean:  go to the national instruments folder under programs, look for NI-SCOPE, Documentation and click on: NI-High speed digitizers help then go to devices->5114 Overview->NI PXI-5114 Front Panel.  I’ve been researching trough our database and I don’t find any know issues with the 5114 so If this does not help I will suggest calling in 1-866-275-6964 for further assistance.  Attach is also the picture of the Front Panel display.
