File>>New>>Other>>Class dialog

Solved!

I remember seeing a new class creation dialog in a version of LabVIEW and was just trying to find it.

I checked my VM with LV 2024 Q3 installed and for the life of me I couldn't find it.

According to

https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/labview-api-ref/page/resource/framework/providers/classsupport/...

it should appear when choosing the appropriate menu item, but I only get the original dialog which simply asks for the class name and nothing else.

Any idea why this feature appears to not be working for me?

The File > New > Other > Class dialog is still just the simple 'please enter a name' dialog.

If you want the fancy new class dialog, you'll need to right-click a container in your project and select New > Class.

Is the highlighted part of the help online wrong then?

And what qualifies as a container in this regard? A folder in the project? A cluster?

"A container in your project" would be a target, virtual folder, or library.

I'll file a Bug report on the documentation. I double-checked that the new fancy class dialog has never been supported in the New dialog box, ever since its introduction in LabVIEW 2020.
