Problem with horizontal scrolling during "grab" in MAX using Pulnix TM-4100CL and PCI-1428

Dan,

The Pulnix TM-4100CL specifies that the partial scan mode you're using runs at 28 fps.  Can you rerun the AVI example using this frame rate?

Thanks,

Ryan F.

Ryan,

When I attempt to acquire at a higher frame rate, such as 28fps I get a timeout error.  I even tried 20 fps and I still got a timeout error.  Even though when I scroll through the 5 images in the front panel they all seem to be there before the timeout error pops up.

This could have something to do with the VI waiting for the "Acquisition Done" signal and it not occuring until the timeout period is over even though the frames are already in memory.  The acquisition done would always wait for the timeout period before it transitioned.  I had encountered this problem earlier with 1 of the sequence VI's but managed to work around it by using X occurences of the "frame done" signal instead , where X was the number of frames in the sequence.  Could the fact that the acquisition done signal is not behaving properly have something to with the framegrabber hardware or the camerafile?

As I was not able to produce a new AVI at the higher famerate that you asked for, is there any other information that you need to help in the troubleshooting?

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

When you Grab in MAX what frame rate does it report?  This is shown down in the MAX status bar (View->Status Bar) at the bottom right.  You'll see the Frames per second: (displayed, acquired).

Thanks,

Ryan,

Scan mode A (2048x2048) => 15 fps acquired, 15 fps displayed
Scan mode B (2048x1000) => 28 fps, 28 fps
Scan mode C (2048x500)   => 49 fps, 49 fps
Scan mode D (2048x250)   => 79 fps, 79 fps

This is of course before the grab times out which always happens eventually.

Dan,

All Grab operations time out eventually?  Does it time out in approximately the same time for all scan modes or does it take longer to time out for some than others?

Thanks,

Ryan F.

Ryan,

Yes all grabs timeout eventually.  Scan mode A times out the fastest, then B, then C, then D.

Hi Dan,

My name is Chris, and I'm an Applications Engineer here at National Instruments.  I will be working on this issue along with R&D, and we think it would be best to get this camera in house.  Would it be alright if we get in direct contact with you to speed up the process?  Thanks.
