Better scrolling (navigation) in the IDE

I have to work on large diagrams sometimes.  Yeah, don't shoot me, I have inherited code.

Scrolling around the Block Diagram is a painful exercise even with top modern hardware.

The LabVIEW display routines and scrolling need some major love to bring them up to par with the '90s (let alone 2013!).

Give us faster scrolling, smooth scrolling and better key navigation of the Block diagram (Already requested).

Ahhh - our beloved IDE. Are we trying to put lipstick on a pig? Smiley Surprised

(That was a joke, by the way...)

Seriously though, starting from the ground up is probably the best route to better performance and a smoother development experience. What would that take? 5 years??

I don't think it's putting lipstick on a pig, that's far too nasty to pigs.  It's more akin to giving a wooly mammth a haircut.  It's that out of date.

I use the navigation window (ctrl+shift+N) for some of the large(or huge) code I've inherited, which can help a lot.  Unfortunately having it open seems to destroy the refresh rate on the block diagram.  It seems like I can't have both and work smoothly.

Have you tried doing this?

That sounds very like wht I'm looking for but my problem occurs most of the time when I'm copying something and want to drag it into place on the BD.  The Navigation win dow doean't help me there.

I'm essentially looking for the same setitng as AQ mentions in that post but for normal "Drag scrolling" or scrolling via the scroll bars in the window on the BD.

I would love to see horizontal scrolling support for a (single) mouse wheel.  Most 2D editor programs let me scroll sideways with the mouse wheel if I hold down shift or alt or something.  I've tried about all the key combinations I can think of and nothing seems to give me horizontal scrolling Labview.
