It would be awesome to be able to select a wire (eg an error line) and a VI, and merge the two - ie. make the wire pass into and out of the relevant control/indicator connections on the VI.
Quick Drop already has the Insert (Ctrl-I) shortcut, which will insert an object specified by name on the wire. Perhaps I could implement the behavior you're asking for if the Quick Drop text box is blank (i.e. no object name is specified), but the selection includes one or more wires, and a single diagram object, when Ctrl-I is pressed?
