The LabVIEW 2021 welcome screen should display the version

Status: Completed

The LabVIEW 2022 Q3 Getting Started Window has the version in the banner graphic.

The screenshot below shows the welcome or splash screens of LabVIEW 2021 Community Edition and LabVIEW 2020 Community Edition.

The 2021 splash screen should display the version, i.e. "2021".

It would also be useful for it to display "Community Edition" like the 2020 version does.

Should this also include bitness - 32 or 64? I have been running both versions at the same time.

Displaying the bitness would help IMO

NI made a conscious design decision to remove version details from our brand elements to provide a more consistent experience with our software.

While we acknowledge this is inconvenient to some users, the version information is still accessible from the About box and Splash Screen (in the text overlay).

You can also right-click on the LabVIEW icon in the Windows 10 taskbar to see the version and bitness:

This is disappointing.

Yes, very disappointing! Only a marketing person would trade a few pixels of blank space for developer inconvenience...

It's declined, but apparently we can still kudo the idea (and comments)!

LabVIEW is a different beast to other products, where version absolutely matters. It's very easy to accidentally upsave VIs in a newer version of LabVIEW if it was opened with the wrong version. The fact this was a branding decision says a lot about the current state of NI, and how they value their customers.

It's not as noticeable, but the splash screen pictured does say version 21.0 (32-bit) in the lower left corner.

I don't actually consider this that big a deal, but that is indeed a pretty lackluster response.

Editing the images in <LabVIEW directory>\resource\screenImages solves your problem!LV2021 new.jpg
