control options for quick drop

I would like to propose that there be an option for changing the short-cut for the quick drop.  I was thinking something as simple as an option to change the right click from the tool pallets to the quick drop.  Or something more advanced like the feature in AutoCAD where the right click is time sensitive, where a quick right click would bring up the quick drop, and a slower right click would bring up the tools pallets

Not sure if you are aware of this already, but you can change the keyboard shortcut for Quick Drop in Tools > Options > Menu Shortcuts (under the View category).

What you can't do, to my knowledge, is set a native mouse shortcut (button macros are another story), like the ones you listed as examples. I'm not sure how much this idea would help, since 99% of the time with Quick Drop, you go right to the keyboard anyway (at least for my use case). How would using the mouse make that easier?

Well we are talking about personal preferences, so if you don't think it would be of benefit to you that is your preference, but I think it would be useful.  Ask anyone who uses AutoCAD, you use the mouse and keyboard much the same way in it and it is very useful there.  Doesn't hurt to give people the option.
